SUMMARY:Family to Family Class
DESCRIPTION:NAMI Cape Ann will hold an 8-week class at SeniorCare’s Gloucester offices for family\, significant others\, and friends of people with mental health conditions. Topics covered include problem-solving\, self-care\, supporting loved ones\, finding local resources\, and understanding mental health conditions. \n\n\nThe course provides family caretakers with education about mental health conditions\, skills workshops\, and information about available resources. The NAMI Family-to-Family curriculum includes: \n\nInformation about mental health conditions and treatments\nCoping skills\, handling crisis and relapse\, local and national resources\nListening and communication techniques\nProblem solving\, limit setting\, self-care\n\nMost importantly\, the course offers family members the invaluable opportunity of open conversation and mutual support in a stigma-free environment. Course participants\, now more than 400\,000 people nationwide\, find that the Family-to-Family experience empowers them to understand and pursue paths toward healthy recovery for their loved ones\, their families\, and themselves. \nPre-registration required. \n(This event was previously scheduled for Sept 26\, 2024)
