Bidding Farewell to Dori Prescott

Dori PrescottAfter 25 years of dedication, laughter, and unwavering commitment, SeniorCare finds ourselves at a bittersweet crossroads as we say farewell to one of our most cherished team members. Director of Home Care Dori Prescott has been a cornerstone of our organization, shaping not only the work we do but also the spirit in which we do it. As Dori embarks on a well-deserved retirement, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible impact she has had on our team, our mission, and the countless lives she has touched along the way.

Dori Prescott read the novel “Christy” by Catherine Marshall as a teenager. This story of a young teacher who dedicated her life to helping the children and families in an economically challenged community inspired Dori to choose Social Work as her life’s work. Early in her career, Dori worked in a long-term nursing facility and fell in love with the older community and the people who serve the people in this final phase of their lives.

Dori came to SeniorCare as a Care Manager and quickly moved into a supervisory role. After 12 years, she was promoted to the Director of Home Care and she has filled this role with grace and hard work for almost 13 years. When asked, Dori says that one of her favorite aspects of her tenure as the Director has been the challenge of advocating for her team—creating efficiencies to reduce the burden on workers, while ensuring that the myriad of rules and regulations governing home care services are met.

Looking forward, Dori is excited and a bit nervous about what comes next. While she will continue her volunteer work with NAMI Cape Ann, she intends to take a few months to stop, breathe, and see what life brings to her. Dori and her husband Glenn plan to travel—a trip to the Grand Canyon is already in the works. They also look forward to reconnecting with people they haven’t seen in some time and to spend more time with friends and family. They’re excited about the flexibility that retirement will bring—allowing them to make choices as opportunities arise.

Dori tells us that she has faith that there is something out there waiting for her. She’s excited to discover what it is.

SeniorCare will miss Dori, but we are so grateful for everything she has done for our agency, our mission, and our community. We wish Dori and Glenn all the best in this new chapter of their lives.
